We, evergreens, heed your support by signing in our petition against single-use straws
because we believe that to do good, you actually have to do something.

OUR CONCERN
In recent years, concern has mounted over the increasing quantities of single-use plastic items that are becoming part of our everyday lives. One of these items is the plastic drinking straw, billions of which are given out in cafés and restaurants, or as part of takeaway meals, every year.
In the US, an estimated 500 million single-use plastic straws are used each day, while in Europe the figure stands at 25.3 billion in a year. Like many rapidly developing countries, the Philippines grapples with unsustainable plastic production/consumption and insufficient solid waste management infrastructure.
OUR SOLUTION
We are aiming for a zero-waste alternative by means of having personal straws for every person or even no straws at all. We are hoping that by implementing this, waste will be reduced, and people will be much more responsible. This also incentivizes disregarding the use of straws altogether which is by far the most sustainable solution for the environment.
Since people will be required to have a personal straw with them, fewer people will want to use straws and if they do use straws, they are using ones that are hopefully not a one-time use item.
